Job summary

Jacobs seeks an experienced Mechanical Designer to join its Mechanical Data Center team. You will develop Revit/BIM models and construction documents for mechanical systems on data center projects, coordinating with electrical, structural, and architectural teams.

Ideal candidates hold an associate degree, 6+ years of mechanical design experience, and strong BIM proficiency. The role offers a hybrid work model in the United States and a competitive compensation package.

Responsibilities

• Develop Revit/BIM models and construction documents for mechanical systems on data center projects.
• Support the layout and design of HVAC and hydronic systems, including chilled water and cooling water systems.
• Assist in development of design criteria and basis of design documentation.
• Prepare conceptual and preliminary designs, including flow diagrams and general arrangements.
• Perform ductwork and piping layout based on load requirements, system diagrams, and equipment configurations.
• Produce detailed construction documents, including plans, sections, and system details.
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure integrated designs.
• Participate in model coordination efforts, including clash detection (NavisWorks/Revizto).
• Support design reviews and quality control processes
• Mentor and guide junior designers as appropriate

Key Responsibilities

Ideal Additional Skills

• Experience with data center or mission-critical facility design
• Familiarity with tools such as NavisWorks, Revizto
• Knowledge of load calculation software (Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, etc.)
• Understanding of ASHRAE standards and mechanical codes
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Interest in emerging technologies, including liquid cooling systems (CDUs, high-temp loops)

The base salary range for this position is $102,900.00 to $141,500.00; though it will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
