Job summary

Jacobs is looking for a Mechanical Designer to join their Mechanical Data Center team. This role involves designing HVAC systems and delivering innovative plumbing design solutions for data center clients. You'll work collaboratively with engineers to ensure technical quality and meet client expectations.

We\'re looking for an energetic, Mechanical Designer to focus on our fast-moving Data Center market. Join us, and you’ll impact our success by delivering innovative plumbing design solutions for our Data Center clients. You will work alongside our team of engineers and designers performing field investigations, interfacing with clients & vendors, sizing and selecting equipment, and preparing construction design packages.

You’ll be accountable for the schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks as you gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget, and schedule. You’ll work with a multi-discipline, highly interactive team to establish to meet the needs of our clients. Your role keeps our company connected, and we’ll support you with what you need to be successful.

Responsibilities

• Layout and design of HVAC systems for data center designs.
• Development of the design criteria for the HVAC systems, including general comfort heating and cooling, temperature or humidity control, unique pressurization requirements, and critical cooling system designs for data center applications.
• Development of conceptual design and preliminary design documents, including flow diagrams and general arrangements.
• Layout of ductwork systems based on a Process and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID).
• Development of final design documents including specifications, piping layout, and final construction documents for these systems (e.g., chilled water, cooling water).
• Mentoring of less experienced staff.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years’ experience in the design of HVAC systems for industrial facilities.
• Proficiency in Revit.
• Thorough knowledge of codes and standards related to the design of HVAC systems.
• Adaptability to work within a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
• Ability to collaborate with the project team remotely.

Ideally, You’ll Also Have

• Software experience in AutoCAD, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace 700, and Trane Trace 3D.
• Experience in the design of mechanical/plumbing/utility systems.

The base salary range for this position is $102,900.00 to $141,500.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
