Daikin Applied is seeking a Mechanical Designer who will use computer-based tools to design parts and assemblies, create production drawings, and manage a parts list. Mechanical Designer will also originate, develop, or modify product designs from conception to finished manufacturing documentation assuring quality, manufacturability, functionality, serviceability, and cost has been considered.



Location: Staunton, VA



What you will do:



* Create engineering documentation including SolidWorks, modeling, fabrication and purchase drawings that conform to Daikin standards


* Translate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing documentation


* Work with Marketing/Sales to provide documentation for original designs or custom modifications of current products to meet weekly production schedules


* Exhibit a sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills.


* Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness


* Complete work assignments within determined time frame and use judgement in determining assignment goals


* Gain knowledge of design and manufacturing practices, processes, and Daikin products.


* Demonstrate an understanding of legacy bill of material systems and product structuring logic


* Be part of and function in a team environment including cross-functional and inter-departmental teams

Minimum Qualifications:



* Vocational, Technical, or Associate of Applied Science degree in design/drafting


* 2+ years of related design experience


* Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position



Preferred Qualifications:



* Experience in sheet metal design and/or HVAC products is desired


* Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD/DraftSight is a plus

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $60,600 - $74,700 in Virginia. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
