Job summary

Engtal in Metro Detroit seeks an experienced Mechanical Designer to join its engineering team on custom automated equipment and turnkey manufacturing systems.

You will own projects from concept through detailed design, develop 3D models in Inventor, design tooling and weld fixtures, and support installation and commissioning across robotic welding, conveyors and automation hardware.

Qualifications

• Solid mechanical design experience in industrial automation or custom machinery.
• Experience designing robotic cells or assembly equipment.
• Experience with tooling/fixturing or weld fixture design.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing and machine-building principles.
• Ability to independently take mechanical projects from concept through detailed design.
• Automotive automation experience is desirable.
• Experience with robotic welding systems would be a major advantage.

Responsibilities

This is a hands‑on design position working on custom automated equipment and turnkey manufacturing systems, with a strong focus on robotic assembly and welding applications. You'll take ownership of projects from concept through detailed design and support the equipment through build and integration.

What You'll Do

• Design custom automated machinery, robotic cells and assembly systems
• Develop concepts and detailed 3D mechanical designs using Inventor
• Design tooling, fixtures, weld fixtures and other automation components
• Work on robotic welding applications including spot, MIG and TIG welding systems
