Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a detail-oriented Piping & Plumbing Detailer to support design, modeling, coordination, and fabrication of commercial and industrial systems. You will transform sketches and engineering documents into detailed models and fabrication drawings using BIM tools.

The role emphasizes drafting and project coordination throughout the project lifecycle, with early phases focused on modeling and detailing and later phases on resolving clashes and coordinating with trades,

Qualifications

• At least 1+ year of experience detailing/designing plumbing and piping systems.
• More experience preferred.
• Experience in either pipefitting or plumbing trades (can be union or non-union).
• This is required so they understand code, reading plans, etc.
• Proficient in both Revit and Navisworks.
• Strong understanding of commercial or industrial piping and plumbing systems.

Responsibilities

• Analyze sketches, design documents, notes, and project specifications to determine the most effective approach for creating accurate models and fabrication drawings.
• Develop detailed piping and plumbing models using Revit, AutoCAD, Fabrication CADmep (Fab MEP), and related BIM tools.
• Produce spool drawings, fabrication drawings, installation drawings, and construction documents.
• Review completed work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
• Apply building codes, construction standards, and trade practices throughout the detailing process.
• Maintain drafting standards and ensure consistency across project deliverables.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, foremen, fabrication teams, and field personnel to resolve design and constructability issues.
• Participate in BIM coordination meetings with other trades, clients, and project stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve clashes within building models to support efficient installation and fabrication.
• Coordinate piping and plumbing systems with HVAC, electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines.
• Support project teams throughout construction by incorporating field feedback and design revisions.

This role is responsible for transforming conceptual sketches, engineering documents, and field information into detailed models and fabrication drawings using industry-leading software tools.

The ideal candidate will have experience in piping and plumbing detailing, BIM coordination, and construction documentation. This position offers a unique blend of technical drafting and project coordination responsibilities, with work evolving throughout the project lifecycle. Early project phases are heavily focused on modeling and detailing, while later phases emphasize coordination with trade partners, project teams, and clients.

Compensation

$35 to $70 per hour.
