Job summary

Roxtec Inc. seeks a Mechanical Designer I to assist in creating 2D drawings and basic 3D models. The role focuses on learning standards, maintaining documentation, and delivering simple custom solutions under supervision in a collaborative environment.

You will draft detailed drawings from 3D models, develop basic designs, and manage BOMs in Teamcenter, with emphasis on accuracy and teamwork. The position supports growth within Roxtec's engineering team.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field.
• 0–1 year of relevant mechanical design or drafting experience, including internships or co-ops.
• Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and familiarity with PLM systems such as Teamcenter.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed drawings from 3D models meeting Roxtec drafting standards.
• Create simple 3D models using Autodesk Inventor and manage CAD files (.stp, .dxf, .iam).
• Develop basic custom designs when standard products do not meet customer needs.
• Maintain part numbers, BOMs, and drawings in Teamcenter PLM.

Job Summary

Mechanical Designer I will support the organization’s business segments by assisting in the creation of 2D drawings and basic 3D models. Focuses on learning design standards, maintaining accurate documentation, and creating simple custom solutions under supervision. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

• Produce detailed drawings from 3D models by creating accurate part and assembly manufacturing drawings that comply with Roxtec drafting standards.
• Construct simple 3D models using Autodesk Inventor and maintain associated CAD files (.stp, .dxf, .iam).
• Develop basic custom designs when standard products do not meet customer needs.
• Manage kit and article number production by creating and maintaining part numbers, bills of materials (BOMs), and organizing drawings within the Teamcenter PLM system.
• Provide entry-level technical support by offering basic assistance and guidance internally based on a growing understanding of Roxtec products, processes, and guidelines.
• Ensure quality through check controls by reviewing created drawings and models for accuracy and completeness prior to peer review and submission.
• Participate in general review practices to provide constructive feedback that ensures adherence to Roxtec and design standards.

• Competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with collaboration tools such as email, Microsoft Teams, and OneNote.
• Be a self-starter and capable of managing projects from start to finish.
• Skilled with personal time management as well as project time management.
• High mechanical aptitude and a proactive, energetic attitude, with a strong desire to develop expertise in Roxtec’s products and design processes.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and familiarity with PLM systems such as Teamcenter, along with a solid understanding of ANSI/ASME drafting standards.

Education and Experience

• Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field, Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
• 0–1 year of relevant work experience in mechanical design or drafting, including internships or co-op experience.
