BlueWorx Staffing seeks a Mechanical Designer for a client in the Claremore/Tulsa area to transform engineering concepts into production-ready drawings and 3D models for aerospace, automotive, and medical components.

You will create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models, apply GD&T, review tolerances, and support manufacturing with design clarifications and change management in a quality-driven environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience as mechanical designer or drafter in aerospace, automotive, or related precision engineering field.
  • Proficiency in CAD software with 2D drafting and 3D modeling.
  • Understanding of GD&T and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models of components, assemblies, fixtures, and tooling using CAD software (SolidWorks or CATIA).
  • Interpret customer drawings, specifications, models, and documentation to develop accurate manufacturing designs.
  • Apply GD&T, dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications to drawings.
  • Modify and update existing drawings based on engineering changes or manufacturing requirements.
  • Provide design clarification to manufacturing personnel and support prototyping and production activities.
  • Review designs for manufacturability and maintain revision control.

Job description

A precision CNC machining and fabrication company in the Claremore / Tulsa area is looking for a Mechanical Designer to join their team. The company is AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 certified and produces build-to-print components and assemblies for aerospace, defense, space, energy, automotive, and medical customers.

This role transforms engineering concepts and customer requirements into detailed, production-ready drawings and 3D models. From high-performance aerospace assemblies to precision-engineered wheel systems, the Designer helps turn concepts into manufacturable designs with a strong focus on safety, accuracy, quality, and customer requirements.

Design and Drafting
  • Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models of components, assemblies, fixtures, and tooling using CAD software
  • Interpret customer drawings, specifications, models, and technical documentation to develop accurate manufacturing designs
  • Apply GD&T, dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications to drawings
  • Modify and update existing drawings and models based on engineering changes, customer revisions, or manufacturing requirements
  • Create and maintain bills of materials, part lists, and supporting design documentation
  • Review designs for accuracy, completeness, manufacturability, and compliance
  • Maintain accurate revision control and ensure current drawings are properly released
Manufacturing and Engineering Support
  • Work with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to resolve design and production issues
  • Collaborate with machinists, fabricators, and engineers to improve manufacturability and production efficiency
  • Provide design clarification to manufacturing personnel on drawings and specifications
  • Identify dimensional conflicts, tolerance concerns, and other potential manufacturing problems
  • Participate in design reviews and support prototype, first article, and production activities
Customer and Project Support
  • Review customer requirements, drawings, and specifications for completeness and accuracy
  • Support projects from initial concept and design through manufacturing and final production
  • Keep projects aligned with customer specifications, quality requirements, and deadlines
Minimum Experience and Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a mechanical designer or drafter in aerospace, automotive, or a related precision engineering field
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks or CATIA) for both 2D drafting and 3D modeling
  • Understanding of GD&T and manufacturing processes
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving ability
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and across multiple departments

Primarily an office setting located within an active manufacturing facility. Intermittent machining and material-handling noise. Safety glasses and closed-toe shoes required. Occasional walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 15 pounds.
