Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking a Mechanical Designer in Painted Post, NY. A hands-on professional with a HS diploma, 5+ years in mechanical design and SolidWorks/PDM expertise will build custom equipment.

This contract role involves BOM management in SolidWorks PDM, collaboration with procurement and external suppliers, and hands-on prototyping to ensure design intent and performance. On-site work hours are 8am to 5pm.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanical design experience.
• High School diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Develop complete 3D mechanical designs and drawings using SolidWorks for custom equipment, fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing systems.
• Manage BOMs, part specifications, and revisions within SolidWorks PDM while specifying standard hardware and commercial components.
• Interface with procurement and external suppliers to specify, quote, and source mechanical parts and fabricated equipment.
• Perform hands‑on prototype assembly, fit‑up, and troubleshooting (50% of role) to test design intent and refine equipment performance.
• Collaborate in design reviews with cross‑functional teams and vendors to resolve technical issues and deliver production‑ready systems.
