Eaton’s ES AMER ARS PDCAD division seeks a Mechanical Designer for its Greenwood, SC facility. The role focuses on designing and executing medium-voltage switchgear for NPD projects, developing 3D models and BOMs, and collaborating across engineering teams to deliver manufacturable and cost-effective solutions.

The position requires hands-on prototyping, CAD expertise (Inventor/AutoCAD), and PLM experience.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or HS diploma with minimum 3 years of medium voltage switchgear experience.
• Will not sponsor immigration for this position.
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor or AutoCAD.
• Experience designing medium-voltage switchgear, GIS/AIS products, or related power distribution equipment.
• Knowledge of IEEE switchgear standards and product development processes.
• Experience with PLM systems, engineering analysis, and product validation.

The position will be based at our manufacturing facility in Greenwood, SC.The expected annual salary range for this role is $56000 - $83000 a year.Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.What you’ll do:Assist with the design and execution of complex medium-voltage switchgear solutions, supporting New Product Development (NPD) projects. Work with lead engineers to support product design, project execution, customer support, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver innovative, manufacturable, and cost-effective solutions.Essential Responsibilities• Support the mechanical design and development of medium-voltage switchgear products and assemblies.• Develop 3D models, engineering drawings, BOMs, and product documentation using CAD and PLM systems.• Collaborate with Front End Engineering and Customer Order Engineering teams to generate BOMs and material demands for standard product content on customer orders at product launch.• Support complex NPD engineering projects from concept through release.• Participate in design reviews, technical problem-solving, testing, and validation activities.• Build engineering prototypes to facilitate design reviews and product testing.• Collaborate with engineering, operations, sourcing, quality, manufacturing teams, and EESS to ensure successful project execution and product launch.• Drive product improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and engineering process enhancements.• Support technology development, product architecture, and innovation initiatives.• Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, quality systems, and safety requirements.Qualifications:Basic Qualifications:• Associate’s degree from an accredited institution or high school diploma with minimum 3 years of experience with medium voltage switchgear experience• Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position.
