Job summary

Stoke Space in Kent, WA is seeking a Mechanical Design Manager to lead a team of engineers through the design, development, integration and test of critical stage fluids systems for a fully reusable launch vehicle.

You will own the technical roadmap, guide designs from concept to release, hire and mentor engineers, and uphold standards amid fast iteration while ensuring safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in design/build/test of space vehicle mechanical systems.
• 1+ years leading a team of engineers.
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Fundamentals in statics, dynamics, strength of materials, DFM.
• PM experience with resource-loaded schedules.
• Hands-on fabrication and assembly experience.
• Proficiency in NX/ANSYS/Python/MATLAB/Excel.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical roadmap for stage fluids mechanical design.
• Lead design execution from concept through release, build, testing, and operations.
• Create technical standards and design guides for space vehicles.
• Hire, grow, and mentor mechanical design engineers.
• Provide coaching in structures, fluids, DFM, and vehicle design.
• Maintain a culture of integrity, reliability, and fast iteration.
