Job summary

Stoke Space is seeking a Mechanical Design Manager to lead a team of engineers in the design, development, integration and test of stage fluids hardware for a fully reusable launch vehicle. You will own the technical roadmap and drive designs from concept through testing, while mentoring staff and establishing design standards.

The role requires strong fundamentals in mechanical design, leadership and project management, with hands-on fabrication experience and proficiency in NX and ANSYS.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of design, build, and test experience on space vehicle mechanical systems.
• 1+ years in leading a team of engineers.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering (or equivalent).
• Strong fundamentals in statics, dynamics, strength of materials and DFA.
• PM experience with resource-loaded schedules.
• Hands-on fabrication and assembly experience.
• Proficiency in NX, ANSYS, Python, MATLAB, Excel.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical roadmap for stage fluids mechanical design.
• Lead design execution from concept through release, build and test.
• Create standards and guides for space vehicle mechanical design.
• Hire, grow, and mentor a team of mechanical design engineers.
• Provide coaching in structures, fluids, DFA, and vehicle design.
• Maintain a culture of integrity, reliability, and rapid iteration.
