Job summary

DBR in Texas invites Mechanical Design Interns for positions in Houston, San Antonio, and El Paso. You will support engineers on building systems projects, research codes, and assist with CAD/BIM drawings.

You will work with mentors on HVAC load calculations (Trane Trace 3D Plus or Carrier HAP), duct sizing, and equipment scheduling, while gaining site exposure and practical experience.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s in Architectural Engineering.
• Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Interest in mechanical design and building systems.

Responsibilities

• Research building codes and standards for each project.
• Assist mentor in HVAC load calculations using Trane Trace 3D Plus or Carrier HAP.
• Assist mentor in sizing ductwork and piping systems for each project.
• Assist mentor in preparing mechanical construction drawings with AutoCAD/Revit.
• Assist mentor with selecting and scheduling mechanical equipment.
• Review design documents with mentor or engineer before completion.
• Communicate with internal and external project team members to complete design.
• Attend at least one project site visit during the internship.

HIRING MECHANICAL DESIGN INTERNS IN HOUSTON, SAN ANTONIO, AND EL PASO

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Research building codes and standards for each project where applicable.


• Assist mentor in performing HVAC load calculations utilizing Trane Trace 3D plus or Carrier HAP software.


• Assist mentor in sizing ductwork and piping systems as applicable to each project.


• Assist mentor in preparation of mechanical construction drawings utilizing AutoCAD/Revit.


• Assist mentor with selection and scheduling of mechanical equipment applicable to each project.

• Communicate with internal team members and external project team members as necessary to complete design.


• Attend at least one project site visit throughout the duration of the internship. Attending additional site visits as applicable for assigned projects is encouraged when necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s in Architectural Engineering.


• Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.


• Familiar with AutoCAD/Revit.


• Ability to communicate and work with others as part of a project team.


• Works well in a fast-paced environment.


• Show a willingness to learn and ask questions.
