Job summary

DPR Construction in Baltimore, MD invites a student in mechanical engineering to join our design team as an Engineering Intern. Under close supervision, you will assist with drawings, specifications and calculations across project phases, learning mechanical design standards, codes and workflows.

You will use basic CAD tools to produce 2D drawings and help develop 3D mechanical models, collaborate with engineers and designers, and engage in learning and development activities.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field is required.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification intent is preferred.
  • Assist with drawings, specifications and calculations under supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in producing mechanical drawings, specifications and calculations with clearly defined tasks.
  • Support basic mechanical layout and drafting for HVAC, piping, or equipment systems.
  • Assist with simple calculations, schedules and model updates as directed.
  • Support construction administration activities, including shop drawing review and RFI assistance.
  • Use CAD and modeling tools to create 2D drawings and assist with 3D mechanical models.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers and modelers to support design documentation.
  • Participate in learning and development activities to build understanding of mechanical design practices.

Job Summary:

Supports mechanical engineering design efforts by assisting with drawings, specifications, and calculations throughout all phases of project design under close supervision. Performs clearly defined drafting and modeling tasks while learning mechanical design standards, codes, and workflows. Collaborates with engineers, designers, and modelers to support coordinated project delivery. Gains exposure to construction administration activities and real-world mechanical design applications.

Key Responsibilities:

Education Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, architectural engineering, or a related field required.

Certifications and Licenses:

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification intent preferred.

Anticipated starting pay range:

$29.00- $46.00
