Job summary

Lear For You is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Novi program and engineering teams. This role covers structural design, component design, mechanisms, and tooling, develops designs from direction provided by program management and Lear engineers.

You'll use SolidWorks to create equipment and tooling designs, prepare drawing packages, collaborate across project managers, controls engineers, and manufacturing, and mentor junior staff while supporting legacy designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum three years' experience in a design role at an automation/machine build shop.
• Experience with CAD software and drawing packages.

Responsibilities

• Work with Project Managers, Controls Engineers, manufacturing, and customers to develop systems.
• Provide machine, mechanism, and tooling design with drawings under supervision.
• Prepare drawing packages for manufacture and assembly meeting standards.
• Collaborate with shop members during builds.
• Design for integration and select pneumatic components with Controls engineers.
• Develop mechanical designs to solve production issues.
• Use SolidWorks to design equipment meeting specs and quotes.
• Apply standards, processes, and best practices to duties.
• Develop predictive maintenance indicators to increase reliability.
• Support legacy mechanical designs.
• Share design methodologies and tools for team knowledge.
• Mentor less experienced design staff in concepts and methodologies.
