Job summary

Figure, an AI robotics company based in San Jose, CA, seeks a Mechanical Engineer to own softgoods and plastic parts. You will design parts in 3D CAD, work with industrial designers, and keep up with robot development across prototyping and production stages.

The role requires 5+ years in mechanical engineering, CAD proficiency, and experience with high-volume manufacturing like injection molding. Collaboration is in-office five days a week.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience with a focus on part design and durability.
• Ability to write and maintain clear design documentation.
• Experience collaborating with industrial design teams and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Design parts in 3D CAD satisfying loads, form factor, and durability.
• Collaborate with industrial designers to realise the system vision.
• Own robot buck files and coordinate with engineers and suppliers.
• Design injection-molded plastic parts with Class A surfaces.
• Create 2D drawings with GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
• Inspect first articles and build test stands for robot development.
