Job summary

Aptiv is seeking a Mechanical Manufacturing/Tooling Engineer in the United States to design, develop, and sustain precision fixtures, pallets, and tooling for camera manufacturing and active lens alignment.

You will design fixtures, nests, clamps, and locating systems; optimize for repeatability and throughput; support tooling upgrades and new product industrialization; and manage engineering documentation and supplier collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience in manufacturing, automation, tooling, or related machinery.
• Experience designing precision fixtures and tooling for production environments.
• Experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain lens alignment pallets and fixtures.
• Create product-specific fixtures, nests, clamps, carriers, and locating systems.
• Optimize fixture designs for repeatability and throughput.
• Develop tooling concepts for prototype, validation, and production builds.
• Lead mechanical design reviews for new manufacturing concepts.
• Generate and maintain 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and BOMs.
• Work with external suppliers and machine shops to fabricate fixtures and components.
• Investigate fixture-related issues and perform root-cause analysis.
