Overview
Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer Level 4 to join our team based out of Ocean Springs, MS. The Marine Systems organization, part of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, is expanding the Launcher Hardware group to support the engineering development of launcher hardware for weapons systems on Navy platforms. The role involves designing concepts, developing solid models, and supporting the full design lifecycle to meet technical, schedule, and cost requirements.
Relocation assistance may be available. Clearance is required for start: Secret. Travel: Yes, up to 10% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Develop designs concept and generate solid models that reflect those concepts
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders balancing technical, schedule, and cost requirements
- Conduct trade studies to select and evaluate best design approaches to fulfill requirements
- Oversee the generation of engineering drawings using common GD&T practices
- Identify procurement needs and support fabrication
- Provide assembly checkout and test support
- Generate task plans and support proposal efforts
- Occasional domestic travel may be required
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of relevant work experience; or Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 6 years relevant work experience; or PhD in a STEM discipline with 3 years relevant work experience
- Experience in machine design and drawing generation
- Ability to plan tasks and execute to the established schedule
- US citizenship required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance
- Must be onsite 4 days a week; remote work is not an option for this role
- Preferred: Experience with CAD modeling (NX, CREO, SolidWorks, or equivalent)
- Preferred: Experience with ASME Y14.5 GD&T and ASME Y14.100 Dimensioning, Tolerancing, and Engineering Drawing Practices
- Preferred: Experience leading a team through design development and developing project plans for hybrid teams
- Strong background in machine design, strength of materials, and materials technology
- Experience in technical presentation, production support, and working with vendors and suppliers
- Active US Government Secret clearance
Compensation and Benefits
- Primary Level Salary Range: $111,700.00 - $167,500.00
- Salary is a general guideline; base offers depend on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions
- Overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses may apply
