Job summary

RIX Industries is seeking a Design Engineer 2 in Benicia, CA to serve as a technical expert for engineering processes or released products. The role involves designing sub-systems and whole mechanical systems, reviewing calculations and drawings, and leading root-cause analysis on failures.

The candidate will collaborate with drafting and manufacturing teams, prioritize tasks to meet schedules, and travel up to 5% nationally and internationally.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering from an accredited engineering school with 2 years relevant engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in ASME Y14.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as Inventor, CREO, Solidworks, or similar.
  • Advanced knowledge of machine design, material properties/selection, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with DFM/DFMA.
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally up to 5%.
  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or qualified U.S. Person in accordance with ALU 22CFR 120.15.

  • Leading root cause failure analysis and correction on malfunctioning products.
  • Prioritizing work to meet project schedules.
  • Performing all assignments and other duties as assigned by Engineering Management.

Position Summary

The Design Engineer 2 is primarily a technical expert for an engineering process or released product.

Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of science in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5 years relevant engineering experience.
  • Advanced degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school.
Physical Requirements
  • This position is regularly exposed to the following conditions:
  • Manufacturing, warehouse and office environment.
  • While working near moving equipment, mechanical parts and lift trucks; must have the ability to follow safe operating procedures.
  • May be exposed to loud noise, fumes and/or toxic chemicals.
  • Must have the following physical abilities:
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, reach, and lift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods at a desk or table as well as machine tools or printers.
Compensation

$110,000-$130,000
