A Day in the Life

The Instruments Center of Excellence in Surgical R&D is dedicated to transforming surgical and diagnostic procedures. We seek a team member to develop solutions aiding early detection and treatment of lung cancer, the leading cause of cancer mortality.

• Own design elements for integrating visual or sensing technologies into a lung biopsy catheter.
• Contribute to mechanical design activities for prototypes.
• Build early prototypes for feasibility analysis before scaling.
• Assist in developing testing methods for design verification.

Candidate Profile

• Experience with composite catheter constructions, including braiding, coiling, laser-cut structures.
• Knowledge of thermal reflow lining and jacketing processes.
• Ability to work independently with moderate guidance.
• Rapidly conceptualize and prototype catheter designs using available materials.
• Develop benchtop models simulating tissue and clinical conditions.
• Proficient in 3D CAD modeling.
