About the Role
Support gas turbine engineering through design liaison and manufacturing qualification activities. This role partners with engineering, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and global suppliers to ensure complex gas turbine components and assemblies meet engineering requirements.
The Lead Mechanical Engineer will support qualification activities for a designated gas turbine component domain, helping suppliers consistently manufacture conforming parts while improving quality, cost, and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute manufacturing qualification activities for gas turbine components and assemblies.
- Apply design templates, engineering processes, and quality management system standards throughout qualification milestones.
- Collaborate with design engineering, manufacturing, quality, materials, sourcing, and supply chain teams to resolve technical issues.
- Support the engineering review and disposition of nonconforming or unqualified hardware, including nonconformance notices and supplier deviation requests.
- Maintain clear, accurate documentation for each qualification step.
- Apply design-for-producibility and lean manufacturing principles to improve manufacturing processes.
- Execute standard work and identify improvements to engineering, design, and manufacturing methods.
- Support cost reduction and built-in quality initiatives across internal manufacturing facilities and external suppliers.
- Maintain a safety-first, zero-defect mindset, including stopping work whenever conditions are unsafe.

- Relevant engineering experience supporting the responsibilities outlined above.
- Ability to apply engineering requirements, qualification processes, and quality standards to component manufacturing.
- Technical problem-solving and accurate engineering documentation skills.
- Ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams.
Preferred
- Experience designing gas turbine hardware or similar rotating machinery.
- Knowledge of manufacturing shop processes and lean manufacturing methods.
- Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Proficiency with Ansys, NX, and other engineering analysis tools.
- Programming experience with Python, VBA, or other languages.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills.
