gpac LLC is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Union City, CA. The role targets candidates with 1–4+ years of mechanical design experience and a Mechanical Engineering degree to contribute to HVAC, plumbing, and building systems design.

You will develop drawings, perform calculations, and coordinate with multiple disciplines while advancing your technical skills across design and construction phases. The position offers full-time hours with a competitive salary.

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established engineering team in Union City, CA. This position is ideal for someone with a Mechanical Engineering degree and 1-4+ years of experience who is looking to further develop their technical skills and gain exposure to HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical building systems.

The selected candidate will work alongside experienced engineers and project teams to develop practical, efficient mechanical designs while gaining experience across multiple phases of the design and construction process.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical drawings, layouts, calculations, and technical documentation.
• Assist with HVAC and plumbing system design, equipment selection, and sizing.
• Perform heating and cooling load calculations and evaluate system requirements.
• Prepare and update design drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software.
• Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, and other engineering disciplines.
• Review plans, project specifications, and applicable building codes.
• Support design revisions, technical problem-solving, and construction documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to meet project schedules and requirements.

• 1-4+ years of relevant mechanical engineering or design experience.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documents.

Preferred

• HVAC and/or plumbing design experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software.Familiarity with commercial building systems, mechanical equipment, ductwork, and piping.
• Knowledge of mechanical codes, load calculations, and equipment sizing.
• EIT certification or plans to pursue professional engineering licensure.
