Job summary

Stone Enterprises, a precision manufacturer serving the food processing industry, seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer in Omaha, NE. The role focuses on conception, design, development, and documentation of mechanical components and systems using SolidWorks, aimed at reliable, cost-effective solutions that meet customer specs and manufacturability standards.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of mechanical design engineering experience (recent grads with strong co-ops considered).
• Strong knowledge of mechanics, materials, thermodynamics, and material science.
• In-depth understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
• Experience with manufacturing processes (CNC, sheet metal, welding, molding).
• Proven problem-solving with data-driven approach.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design complete projects from concept to manufacturing, including assembly and testing.
• Reverse engineer parts or develop new replacements as needed.
• Create BOMs and manufacturing drawings.
• Support customer specifications and project requirements.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, suppliers, and engineers throughout a project.
• Address quality and manufacturing challenges with design improvements.
• Work with sales and leadership to improve product quality and reduce costs.
• Manage inventories of parts and materials for design projects.
• Produce SolidWorks concept drawings, approval drawings, and drawings for fabrication.
• Write technical manuals, part lists, exploded views, and assembly directions.
