Job summary

KLA is recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer in Milpitas, CA, to own the system architecture for process media and vacuum systems in advanced semiconductor equipment. You will develop and maintain P&IDs, device lists, and interface definitions, while performing CAD work for routing and hardware integration.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience with gas, water, cryogenic, and/or vacuum distribution systems.
• Familiar with P&IDs, device lists, interface documentation, and system-level routing layouts.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture for gas, water, LN2, and vacuum distribution systems.
• Develop and maintain P&IDs, device lists, interface definitions, and requirements allocations.
• Perform fluid flow and thermal simulations.
• Create CAD models and layouts for routing architecture and hardware integration.
• Perform hands-on mechanical design and guide CAD routing for cables, piping and hardware.
• Lead architecture tradeoffs and select major components (valves, pumps, regulators, filters, gauges, manifolds, sensors).
• Define system requirements and allocations across mechanical, electrical, software, and other teams.
• Help define interfaces, interlocks, and sequencing concepts for safe operation (SEMI-S2, ASME, PED).
• Support system integration, design reviews, troubleshooting, and productization including documentation for high volume production.
