Job summary

General Galactic Technologies Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer (Electric Propulsion) in California to own mechanical design across propulsion hardware, from requirements through flight. You will build CAD models, perform structural and thermal analyses, and drive qualification tests for Hall-effect thrusters and related systems.

The role demands hands-on design and testing in a fast-paced startup environment, with opportunities to expand responsibilities as the company grows.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on experience in mechanical design and analysis, with aerospace exposure.
• Experience with CAD and FEA software; depth in structural and thermal analyses.
• Experience with technical drawings, including GD&T.
• Experience in design and test of pressurized components and systems.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the mechanical design of electric propulsion hardware including thruster and cathode components, propellant management system, secondary structures, and more.
• Generate CAD models and drawings with GD&T; perform FEA and thermal analyses.
• Build and test designs in the lab and iterate based on test results.
• Create qualification and acceptance test plans and qualify designs through vibration, TVAC, and related testing.
