Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Mechanical Product Design Engineer to shape transformer technology through solid design and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll translate customer specs into high-quality 2D/3D designs, create drawings and BOMs, and support multiple teams across a dynamic energy infrastructure environment.

You’ll contribute to continuous improvement, mentor junior engineers, and ensure compliance with IEEE/CSA standards while growing your career within a global organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Creo, or similar 2D/3D tools.
• Experience with industrial or engineering standards.
• Pad-mounted transformer design knowledge (preferred).
• Familiarity with IEEE and CSA standards (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute engineering design activities.
• Create and modify drawings, Bills of Materials, and technical documentation.
• Lead and participate in design and customer specification reviews.
• Provide timely mechanical engineering support across teams.
• Support customer inquiries with clear, technically sound responses.
• Contribute to vendor qualification, new component development, and testing.
• Conduct analysis, design, and development work using 2D/3D tools for transformer products.
• Mentor and guide early-career engineering colleagues.
• Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
