Job summary

Vertiv in the United States is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop custom busbar assemblies and tap-off boxes for data center applications. You will create 2D/3D SolidWorks models and detailed drawings to support engineered-to-order solutions.

You will collaborate with project management and manufacturing to drive designs from concept through production release, ensuring ANSI/ISO compliance and supporting new product introductions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and foundational knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with designing for sheet metal fabrication, welding, and machining.
  • Proven ability to create clear, accurate drawings and documentation to support production.

Responsibilities

  • Design and release custom busbar assemblies and tap-off boxes for data center applications.
  • Generate 2D and 3D SolidWorks models and detailed drawings from project requirements.
  • Load production systems with material requirements from approved drawings.
  • Assist engineers in preparing technical submittals with high-quality 2D drawings for client review.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute trial runs and mass production releases.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards and customer specifications.
  • Provide BOMs, manufacturing instructions, and design reports.
  • Address design issues during production with the manufacturing team.
  • Modify existing designs and develop new engineered-to-order solutions as needed.
  • Participate in peer reviews and provide feedback to improve drafts.
