Job summary

Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to coordinate design activities, ensure code compliance, and support project delivery from schematic design through construction administration. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • Master's degree in Architectural Engineering with Mechanical emphasis is preferred.
  • Professional engineering license (e.g., PE) is required.
  • Experience with mechanical system design of commercial/institutional buildings.
  • Experience with architectural/engineering firms is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the mechanical design team's work through schematic development and contract documentation.
  • Establish meetings and participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
  • Coordinate workload to complete documents on schedule.
  • Conduct work sessions at the project site with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
  • Review mechanical documents for conflicts across disciplines.
  • Write and edit mechanical specifications, select equipment, systems and devices.
  • Coordinate with affected disciplines on addenda, RFIs, CPRs, change orders, and integrate changes into project documents.
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed.
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of others in the mechanical team.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
Master's degree in Architectural Engineering (Mechanical emphasis)
