Job summary

AISIN World Corp. of America in Durham, NC seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the ground-up mechanical design of new equipment and the overhaul of existing systems for new projects.

Responsibilities include CAD-based design, simulations, and creating drawings, BOMs, and manuals to support modifications. You will manage automation projects, collaborate with technicians, and ensure schedules and documentation align with project goals while championing safe work practices on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Proven knowledge of design and engineering principles and best practices.
• Strong working knowledge of pneumatics.
• Proficiency with engineering design programs such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks.
• Strong data analysis skills and ability to solve problems.
• Self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
• Time management skills and ability to work under limited time constraints.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Works well in a group environment, with the ability to lead projects in a cross-functional environment.
• Proficient level of skill in using MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design reviews to determine application requirements.
• Plan and execute mechanical designs using CAD and 3D CAD programs.
• Perform simulations and experiments to test and refine the designs.
• Oversee development and manufacturing of parts for equipment.
• Work closely with mechanical and electrical technicians during assembly.
• Prepare technical reports, design specifications documents, and operational manuals.
• Manage automation projects including purchasing, scheduling fabrication and assembly, debugging, and delivering to the customer.
• Lead the final installation, setup and testing of equipment within the production line.
• Act as a liaison for engineers and outside contractors during machine installation.
• Maintain records for each machine assembly and ensure modifications meet project plans.
