Job summary

BETA Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop high-lift-device mechanisms for an advanced narrowbody aircraft.

You will transform aerodynamic and system requirements into flap/slat hardware, kinestics, and installation definitions, based onsite in Vermont with hybrid options in other locations. The role requires a mechanical/aerospace background, CAD proficiency (CATIA/3DEXPERIENCE), and hands-on experience from design to test, with a US citizenship requirement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years aerospace mechanical design experience.
  • Proficiency with CATIA, 3DEXPERIENCE, or a comparable CAD environment.
  • Working knowledge of kinematics, bearings, joints, fasteners, tolerances, GD&T, and mechanical load paths.
  • Experience supporting hardware through design, build, fit check, and test.
  • Must be a US Person to be considered for the role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop three-dimensional CAD, layouts, drawings, and interface definitions for high-lift mechanisms, supports, tracks, hinges, linkages, actuation, sensors, and installation hardware.
  • Build and evaluate kinematic and packaging models across the required operating envelope.
  • Perform preliminary calculations and trade studies for mechanism loads, geometry, bearings, fasteners, tolerances, stiffness, clearances, and mass.
  • Design for assembly, rigging, inspection, maintenance, lubrication, wear, repair, manufacturing, and test access.
  • Support tolerance analysis, drawing release, configuration control, supplier coordination, prototype build, fit checks, and functional testing.
  • Work with Cross-Functional teams including Aerodynamics, Structures, Systems, Flight Controls, and Manufacturing.
