Job summary

Applied Composites is seeking an Engineer 2, Mechanical to develop, test and integrate aerospace composite structures and mechanical components. You will apply CAD tools, perform analyses and work with the Mechanical Engineering Team to meet stringent specs.

The role requires 3–5 years of relevant experience, a post-secondary engineering degree, and strong knowledge of CAD, Siemens NX and Simcenter. You will contribute to design improvements and cost-effective manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with aerospace composites and mechanical components.

Responsibilities

  • Provides extended expertise in design, development, testing of mechanical components & composite structures.
  • Participates in engineering activities to define product requirements, create designs, perform simulation testing and validation of final hardware components.
  • Performs mechanical component development and integration using CAD concepts.
  • Works with Mechanical Engineering Team to meet high engineering standards per design specifications.
  • Uses existing procedures to solve a range of problems; analyzes information and standard practices to make judgments.
  • Solves a variety of mechanical engineering issues and improves existing designs.
  • Improve and implement composite manufacturing processes.
  • Performs value analysis during the product design phase while optimizing development costs.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Applied Composites (AC) is seeking an Engineer 2, Mechanical who will provide extended expertise in developing, designing and testing a wide range of aerospace composites and mechanical products to meet stringent requirements and specifications. Job Responsibilities
  • Provides extended expertise in the design, development, testing of mechanical components & Composite Structures
  • Participates in engineering activities to define product requirements, create designs, perform simulation testing and validation of final hardware components
  • Performs mechanical component development and integration, while using Computer-Aided-Design concepts
  • Works as part of the Mechanical Engineering Team to meet high level of engineering standards per design specifications
  • Uses existing procedures to solve a range of problems; analyzes information and standard practices to make judgments
  • Solves a variety of mechanical engineering issues and improves existing designs
  • Improve and implement composite manufacturing processes
  • Performs value analysis during the product design phase while optimizing product development costs
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
Education

Post-secondary degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations

Years' Experience

3-5 years of relevant experience

Skills
  • Excellent ability to apply a systematic and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Proficient with CAD and 3D modeling
  • Advanced knowledge and ability to apply core concepts of engineering (mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis and electricity)
  • Should have direct experience in performing a variety structural and or thermal analysis of composite hardware and structures
  • Ability to explain a range of complex technical information
  • Prior experience with Siemens NX and Simcenter highly preferred
  • Strong GD&T and drafting skills Required
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
  • Experience with composite design and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to manage an engineering project on time and within budget
  • Support larger company goals and or engineering requests
