Job summary

Opportunity Overview

This opportunity is focused on supporting nuclear plant mechanical systems through design, analysis, modification, and maintenance activities in a highly regulated engineering environment. The role offers involvement across engineering evaluations, mechanical calculations, procurement specifications, and design change documentation, with exposure to systems such as piping, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, HVAC, and structural supports.

Position Suitability

This position will suit candidates who can work with minimal supervision while contributing effectively within a technical team.

Required Education

Required Education: Bachelor's degree is required.

Required Experience

• Experience performing mechanical system engineering, design engineering, or modification engineering within a commercial nuclear plant environment.
• Experience supporting engineering changes involving mechanical systems, equipment replacement, procurement engineering, operability evaluations, and field implementation.
• Experience reviewing and producing engineering change documentation, engineering evaluations, mechanical calculations, modification test plans, equipment database records, plant drawings, bills of materials, and supporting design and licensing documentation.

Required Skills

• Strong background in the design, analysis, modification, and maintenance of nuclear plant mechanical systems.
• Technical knowledge of piping systems, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, HVAC systems, fluid systems, structural supports, and mechanical equipment.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, configuration management, equipment operability, system interactions, and applicable industry codes and standards.
• Ability to perform engineering evaluations, calculations, equipment troubleshooting, procurement engineering support, and modification design activities.
• Ability to read and interpret plant drawings and technical documents, including flow diagrams, isometrics, piping support drawings, equipment arrangement drawings, vendor documents, and mechanical calculations.
• Ability to work on assigned projects with minimal supervision, demonstrate flexibility, and take responsibility for assigned deliverables.
• Knowledge of the Standard Design Process.
• Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards including ASME Section III, ASME Section XI, B31.1, and related nuclear industry requirements.

Required Certifications

• Valid driving licence (Required).
• Nuclear access required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with nuclear plant design basis requirements, engineering programmes, and engineering change processes.
• Experience with engineering processes and procedures relevant to design change, design verification, calculations, procurement specifications or technical requirements documentation, applicability determination preparation, and 50.59 screening.
• Associate's degree.
