Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design converting equipment components and systems for manufacture, assembly, and commissioning. The role emphasizes project-based technology support, continuous improvement, and adherence to engineering standards.

You will interact with stakeholders, contribute to planning and budgeting, and provide hands-on problem-solving during commissioning at JOA and customer sites. Strong teamwork and communication are essential to succeed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent academic/practical experience.
• Strong analytic skills to troubleshoot equipment/processes and implement solutions.
• Ability to effectively utilize complex software for design, problem solving, and documentation.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate among a team.

The Mechanical Design Engineer provides converting equipment component and systems design services to facilitate the manufacture, assembly and commissioning of converting equipment.

Job Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work a full day on a computer
• Ability to lift and move objects up to twenty‑five pounds in weight
• Ability to use hand tools and monitoring/testing equipment
• Ability to occasionally climb a ladder and maneuver into tight spaces
• Ability to work area in an environment that is loud and without air conditioning during machine commissioning and/or problem‑solving
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (safety shoes, glasses, ear protection)
• Must travel for company business up to (~20%) international and domestic travel.
