Intuitive Machines West in Palo Alto, CA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for the MAGE Engineering group to design complex mechanical ground support equipment for spacecraft assembly, integration and test.

The role requires a Bachelor's in mechanical or aerospace engineering and 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design; on-site with hybrid flexibility, CAD in CREO Parametric and SolidWorks; report to MAGE Responsible Engineers.

Qualifications

Intuitive Machines West is seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer for the MAGE (Mechanical Aerospace Ground Equipment) Engineering group in Palo Alto, CA. In this challenging and exciting role, you will have the opportunity to design complex mechanical ground system equipment for use during the assembly, integration & test (AIT) of our satellite systems.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with MAGE Responsible Engineers and program team members to ensure that products meet requirements and customer expectations.
  • Create mechanical designs, concepts and engineering drawings for spacecraft assembly, integration and test equipment.
  • Contribute to design reviews and technical proposal efforts by providing CAD models, conceptual designs and other supporting information.
  • Support product lifecycle through engineering drawing releases/revisions and onsite production and fabrication operations.
  • Work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors including cost, quality, reliability, manufacturability, impact to schedule, and process improvement.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Person or Permanent Resident
  • This is an on-site role with hybrid flexibility, requiring a minimum of two days per week in the office. Due to the nature of our customers and product lines, candidates must also be able to report to the facility outside of our regular schedule in the case of a product emergency.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering,or other related discipline.
  • 3-5years of work experience in mechanical design engineering or other related discipline.
  • Proficient in mathematics, physics and statics as they relate to use of mechanical components, support structures and lifting/integration systems.
  • Understanding of and proficiency in the use of computer-aided design software (CREO Parametric, SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software)
Preferred Requirements
  • 5-7years of work experience in mechanical design engineering or other related disciplines.
  • Proficiency in the use of the following software:
  • CREO Parametric Computer aided design
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Product Lifecycle Management (Teamcenter or other PLM software)

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.

The base pay for this position within California is: $82,000.00 - $136,000.00 annually.

For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
