Job summary

Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of production tooling for our Lighting Sources platform. The role partners with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams to design, validate, and implement tooling solutions for efficient production operations.

You will design mechanical assembly tooling and electro-mechanical test fixtures, develop 3D CAD models, drawings, and documentation, and participate in material

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a related technical field is required.
• Recent, relevant experience as an individual contributor (5+ yrs).
• Proficiency with Creo or equivalent 3D CAD software.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop production tooling from concept through production implementation.
• Create mechanical assembly tooling and electro-mechanical test fixtures.
• Develop 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and documentation.
• Perform material selection, tolerance analysis, and design reviews.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing engineers.
• Build prototypes and test setups to validate designs.
• Support tooling introduction, validation, and troubleshooting in manufacturing facilities.

In this role, you will partner closely with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams to design, validate, and implement tooling solutions that enable efficient, high-quality production operations. The focus is on mechanical assembly tooling and electro-mechanical test fixtures used in a factory environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop production tooling from concept through production implementation.
• Create mechanical assembly tooling and electro-mechanical test fixtures.
• Develop 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and documentation.
• Perform material selection, tolerance analysis, and design reviews.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing engineers.
• Build prototypes and test setups to validate designs.
• Support tooling introduction, validation, and troubleshooting in manufacturing facilities.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in a related technical field.
• Recent, relevant experience as an individual contributor (5+ yrs experience)
• Proficiency with Creo or equivalent 3D CAD software.
• Experience with plastics, fasteners, adhesives, and mechanical assembly design.
• Ability to take designs from concept through production.
• Experience creating drawings and performing tolerance analysis.
• Hands-on prototype and test fixture experience.
• Ability to travel up to 12% to Austin, TX and Chihuahua, Mexico.

Preferred Qualifications

• Creo and/or Windchill expertise.
• Experience designing mechanical assembly tooling.
