Qualifications

Mechanical Design Engineer - 2-4+ Years of experience
Full-time position--ONSITE
- Provide mechanical design and development of new products or product enhancements for the automotive service tools industry.
- Prepare thorough and accurate documentation for release to manufacturing and for internal product design records.
- Work with manufacturing and service personnel to resolve problems and improve manufacturability and serviceability of products.
- Develop or modify manufacturing processes.
- Work with other groups on value engineering initiatives to reduce product cost and or improve performance of designs.
- Develop an understanding of the company’s products and their applications.
- Provide administrative support for engineering computer systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop Special Service Tools in support of customer tool program.
- Create 3D Models and 2D Mechanical Drawings (CAD).
- Gather tool requirements and application information.
- Develop tooling concepts and solutions.
- Develop tool mock-ups, prototypes (e.g. 3D printing).
- Coordinate with machine shops and other suppliers for prototype fabrication.
- Test and validate tools on vehicles or vehicle subsystems.
- Document legacy tools where existing documentation is deficient.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with a minimum of 2-4+ years’ relative work experience.
- Hands-on experience in automotive maintenance and repair is preferred.
- Must be proficient in the use of the computer for design. Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD experience is preferred.
- Up-to-date knowledge in mechanical design.
- Basic understanding of complementary technical disciplines, particularly electrical systems and electrical troubleshooting beneficial.
- Hands-on automotive assembly or repair experience.
- Understanding of engineering principles, machining, injection molding.
- Able to work with others and with minimal supervision.
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
- Must possess good time management and organizational skills.
- Must possess good problem solving and analytical skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate initiative.
- Prefer to have practical experience in manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Customer interface experience a plus.
