Job summary

WR Engineering in Greenville, SC is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer to strengthen our precision aluminum finishing and metal processing operations. You will design systems, develop parts, and work with production to improve equipment and processes for reliable, high-quality results.

You will create detailed 3D models and drawings, select materials, and apply design-for-manufacture principles while collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to deliver practical engineering

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing or industrial engineering environment.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Creo, or equivalent.
• Ability to produce and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
• Good understanding of mechanical components, materials, tolerances and manufacturing processes.
• Experience designing equipment, tooling, fixtures or mechanical assemblies.
• Strong problem-solving and hands-on approach to engineering.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with production and technical teams.
• Good communication, organizational and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed mechanical designs, 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using CAD software.
• Design and improve manufacturing equipment, tooling, fixtures and mechanical components.
• Work closely with production teams to identify engineering challenges and implement practical solutions.
• Support equipment modifications, upgrades and continuous improvement projects.
• Produce accurate technical drawings, specifications and bills of materials.
• Ensure designs meet functional, safety, quality and manufacturing requirements.
• Apply design-for-manufacture principles to improve efficiency, reliability and ease of maintenance.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to develop and implement engineering solutions.
• Investigate mechanical issues and recommend design changes to improve performance and reduce downtime.
• Support projects from initial concept and design through prototyping, testing and implementation.
