Leoforce, located in Bowling Green, KY, seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to take ideas from concept to production, building real-world products that go to market. You will design with SolidWorks, consider manufacturing capabilities, and work closely with engineering, sales, and manufacturing teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

The role emphasizes DFm, hands-on manufacturing support, and opportunities to influence product direction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related) preferred.
• ~5+ years in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on, collaborative across teams for problem solving.
• SolidWorks and ERP familiarity with BOM management.
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and CNC is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the full design lifecycle from concept through production release.
• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and shop drawings in SolidWorks.
• Design with manufacturing in mind: sheet metal and fabrication.
• Build BOMs and manage part numbers across assemblies.
• Collaborate with sales, product and manufacturing teams.
• Support production with design updates and troubleshooting.
• Run simulations and analyses to ensure reliability.
• Drive design changes and ECNs for process improvements.

If you’re someone who enjoys taking ideas from concept all the way through manufacturing - and seeing your designs come to life on the floor - this is the kind of role you’ll want to explore. This opportunity puts you right in the middle of product development, working closely with engineering, sales, and manufacturing teams to create practical, high-quality designs that meet real-world customer needs. Everything you do will be built with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) in mind - so your work doesn’t just look good, it works.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Own the full design lifecycle—from concept through production release
• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and shop drawings using SolidWorks
• Design with real manufacturing capabilities in mind (sheet metal, CNC, fabrication)
• Build clean, accurate BOMs and maintain part numbers across assemblies
• Partner closely with sales and product teams to bring customer-driven designs to life
• Support production, manufacturing, and field teams with design updates and troubleshooting
• Run simulations, calculations, and failure analysis to ensure reliability
• Drive continuous improvement through design changes, ECNs, and process enhancements

What You Bring

• Strong experience with SolidWorks (or similar 3D parametric design tools)
• Background designing for manufacturing - especially sheet metal and fabrication
• Ability to manage projects from idea through release without handholding
• Understanding of BOMs, ERP systems, and manufacturing workflows
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and CNC-related requirements is a plus
• Knowledge of industry standards (UL, ADA, NSF) is helpful

Additional Details

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related) preferred
• ~5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
