Job description

Role Title: Mechanical Design / CAD Expert

Role Type: Contractor
Location: Remote

micro1 is engaging Mechanical Design / CAD Experts to contribute their expertise to a challenging customer project focused on advanced engineering solutions. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters.

Scope of Work
  1. Provide detailed input on mechanical design solutions, including component and assembly modeling using advanced CAD tools.
  2. Evaluate and critique engineering drawings for accuracy, manufacturability, and adherence to GD&T standards.
  3. Assess and provide recommendations for design for manufacturability (DFM) and tolerance analysis practices.
  4. Contribute insights on engineering mechanics, tribology, and geometric modeling challenges relevant to real-world applications.
  5. Review and enhance graphics and geometric modeling representations for mechanical assemblies and systems.
  6. Offer guidance on best practices in manufacturing engineering and help simulate realistic design scenarios.
  7. Create written and verbal explanations of mechanical engineering concepts to inform the development and training of AI models.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. BS or MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with a strong academic foundation.
  2. Substantial experience in production design, including hands‑on use of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and DFM principles.
  3. Proficiency with industry‑standard CAD platforms (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, NX) and demonstrated 3D modeling expertise.
  4. Strong understanding of tribology, engineering mechanics, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  5. Experience in manufacturing engineering and knowledge of end‑to‑end product development.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to clearly convey technical concepts and feedback.
  7. CSWP or CSWE certification is a plus, reflecting advanced proficiency in CAD and design workflows.
Compensation Structure

Compensation is output-based; experts are paid per task that meets the project specifications. The time required to complete work may vary depending on the expert’s experience and workflow. Minimum submission requirements apply. Experts must submit a minimum of tasks per week.

Start Timeline & Availability
