Job summary

Alpine Metal Tech North America Inc in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a Mechanical Design Associate Engineer (m/f/d) to design products using AutoCAD Inventor and coordinate with US and European teams. You will update legacy drawings, ensure regulatory compliance, and support fabrication and purchasing activities.

The role requires 2+ years in design for steel structures and electro/mechanical systems, strong MS-Office skills, and the ability to travel occasionally.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in product design and development for steel structures and electro/mechanical systems.
• Proficient in MS-Office (Word and Excel) and able to communicate effectively.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational abilities.
• Willingness and ability to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Design products using AutoCAD Inventor and consult with engineering and manufacturing teammates in the US and Europe to ensure feasible designs.
• Update / revision of legacy 2D CAD drawings.
• Ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and bid/project requirements.
• Consult with fabrication teams during product manufacturing, advising on design specifications.
• Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure their scope meets our specifications.
• Review customer bid documents and help establish quotations for products with sales/engineers/project personnel.
• Research competitor products quarterly and contribute ideas to product development.
• Calculate cost estimates for final designs including labor, material, delivery and overhead.
• Attend meetings, including some on customer sites, to provide progress reports and support sub suppliers.
• Work with Project Managers during installation and commissioning, including site visits.
• Create RFQs and purchasing of manufactured and bought-out items.

Area of responsility

• Design products using AutoCAD Inventor, and consult with engineering and manufacturing teammates in the US and Europe to ensure that designs are feasible
• Update / revision of legacy 2D CAD drawings
• Ensure compliance with any codes, regulations, and bid/project requirements
• Consult with fabrication teams during product manufacturing, advising them on design specifications and providing assistance when required
• Coordinate with subcontractors, including the civil portion, to ensure their scope of work meets our needed specifications
• Review customer bid documents and work with sales/engineers/project personnel/manufacturers to help establish quotations for products
• Research competitor products quarterly and collaborate with product development team to generate ideas for making our products the best ones on the market
• Calculate cost estimates for final product designs, and release reports to supervisors, incorporating costs of labor, material, delivery and overhead
• Attend meetings, including some on customer sites, to provide progress reports, answer questions, support sub suppliers, etc.
• Work closely and support Project Managers during installation and commissioning phases which include occasional site visits
• Create RFQ’s and purchasing of manufactured and bought-out items.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Product Design and Development in the area of steel structures and electro/mechanical systems.
• Proficient in MS-Office, including Word and Excel
• Ability to thrive in a cross functional and cross-cultural work environment.
