Job summary

Raytheon seeks a seasoned Mechanical Cross-Product Technical Lead to direct a large multi‑discipline team in the ALE AUR program. You will guide design, analysis, documentation, and verification of hardware components to deliver producible, affordable solutions aligned with Raytheon standards.

You will collaborate with Program Management, Systems Engineering and Operations to optimize architecture, manage drawings and tests, and communicate risks and progress to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Degree in STEM and 10+ years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 7+ years.
  • Experience in hardware engineering design, development and production support.
  • Experience across multiple DoD programs or similar complex development efforts.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance and ability to obtain program access.

The Air Launched Effectors All Up Round (ALE AUR) Mechanical Design organization is seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Cross-Product Technical Lead (Mech CPTL) to provide technical direction/expertise, engineering rigor, execution oversight, and cross-program coordination for mechanical redesigns, architecture development, and verification across the AMRAAM® D4/C9 program. The role focuses on delivering producible, affordable, high-performance mechanical solutions aligned with program objectives, Hardware Engineering (HWE) standards, and Raytheon engineering processes.

This role drives engineering excellence, design reuse, and producible, affordable mechanical solutions over a large multi-disciplinary mechanical engineering team in close collaboration and partnership with Program Management, Systems Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and cross-discipline mechanical teams including Airframe, Mechanisms, Propulsion, Avionics, Configuration Management, Data Management, and Support Equipment withing the Hardware Engineering organization.

What you Will Do
  • Lead a large cross‑product mechanical engineering team, including task planning, technical guidance, and mentoring.
  • Lead mechanical design, development, analysis, documentation, and verification of hardware components.
  • Apply RMD design standards, requirements flow, and configuration management best practices.
  • Drive mechanical architecture alignment and design trades focused on optimization and modernization.
  • Develop and execute mechanical drawing release plans, test plans, and verification strategies.
  • Coordinate with cross‑functionally partners to drive design trades, architecture alignment, producibility improvements, and risk mitigation.
  • Develop, provide and present functional operations or program execution content to functional leadership including knowledge/impact of schedule milestones and budget considerations relative to Estimates at Complete (EAC) or Latest Revised Estimates (LRE).
  • Resolve complex technical issues, risks, and opportunities across the product lifecycle.
  • Support generation/review of Basis of Estimates (BOEs), proposals, technical reviews, gate reviews, internal briefings, and customer interactions.
  • Provide technical oversight to subcontractors, ensuring compliance of their technical data packages.
  • Ensure mechanical engineering excellence through disciplined processes and robust verification.
  • Drive and contribute to modernization, commonality initiatives, and producibility improvements.
  • Engage cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Systems Engineering.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience
  • Experience in hardware engineering design, development, and production support.
  • Experience across multiple DoD programs or similar complex development efforts.
  • Active U.S. DoD Secret clearance and ability to obtain and maintain program access.
  • Experience in providing technical governance and ensuring compliance with Hardware Engineering standards.
  • Experience in reviewing, producing Basis of Estimates and participating in or leading hardware engineering functional reviews.
  • Experience collaborating in cross-functional technical forums and representing mechanical engineering objectives.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present complex technical content.
  • Working knowledge of EVMS / EAC processes.
  • Experience in preparing technical proposals and conducting technical presentations.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
