Job summary

M.C. Dean seeks a Mechanical Critical Facility Technician to maintain and repair complex HVAC and mechanical systems in data centers, hospitals, and manufacturing environments.

Applicants should have 6+ years in mechanical/critical facility work, including 3+ years in data centers or hospitals, and must be able to obtain a Secret clearance; EPA 608 and ACR TDLR qualifications within the first year are preferred.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years' work experience in mechanical or critical facility operations.
  • 3+ years direct experience in data center or hospital critical facility operation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • EPA 608 certification preferred; or obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • ACR Technician TDLR within the first year of employment.
  • U.S. citizenship may be required for security clearance.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities A Mechanical Critical Facility Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing the complex mechanical systems in data centers, hospitals, and manufacturing plants. This role requires a strong background in HVAC and other mechanical equipment, along with mission-critical experience and relevant certifications.
  • Technicians must be proficient in the operation, maintenance, and repair of complex heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This includes chillers, boilers, CRAC/CRAH units, and air handling units.
  • The ability to install, maintain, and repair minor plumbing systems, including pumps, valves, and piping, is required.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems is necessary for troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of BMS platforms like Niagara Tridium, Siemens, or Johnson Controls is crucial for monitoring and controlling environmental systems.
  • Technicians must be able to read and interpret mechanical, plumbing, and electrical diagrams to perform maintenance and repairs.
  • Proficiency with CMMS software is needed for tracking and documenting work orders, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED or greater.
  • Applicants must have 6+ years' work experience including 3+ years of direct experience in a critical facility operation, such as a data center or hospital.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Applicants identified as Mechanical shall have experience with chillers greater than 300 tons, boilers, or significant other mechanical experiences.
  • Must obtain an ACR Technician TDLR within the first year of employment.

  • Abilities:
  • The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [50 pounds] on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.
  • Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
  • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
