  • Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Monitor environmental controls using BMS platforms (Niagara Tridium, Siemens, Johnson Controls).
  • Read and interpret mechanical, plumbing, and electrical diagrams; document work in CMMS.

Clearance Requirement:Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and may meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

License/Certification Requirement:

  • Candidates who have already passed the NITC Journey-Level HVAC Exam are preferred; however, the ability to pass the exam within one year of hire is required.
  • Current EPA 608 certification preferred; or must obtain one within 90 days of hire.
Responsibilities

A Mechanical Critical Facility Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing the complex mechanical systems in data centers, hospitals, and manufacturing plants. This role requiresa strong background in HVAC and other mechanical equipment, along with mission-critical experience and relevant certifications.

  • Technicians must be proficient in the operation, maintenance, and repair of complex heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This includes chillers, boilers, CRAC/CRAH units, and air handling units.
  • The ability to install, maintain, and repair minor plumbing systems, including pumps, valves, and piping, is required.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems is necessary for troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of BMS platforms like Niagara Tridium, Siemens, or Johnson Controls is crucial for monitoring and controlling environmental systems.
  • Technicians must be able to read and interpret mechanical, plumbing, and electrical diagrams to perform maintenance and repairs.
  • Proficiency with CMMS software is needed for tracking and documenting work orders, repairs, and maintenance activities.
Qualifications
  • Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED or greater
  • Applicants must have 6+ years' work experience including 3+ years of direct experience in a critical facility operation, such as a data center or hospital.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Applicants identified as Mechanical shall have experience with chillers greater than 300 tons, boilers, or significant other mechanicalexperiences
  • Must pass the NITC Journey Level HVAC exam within the first year of employment.
  • Must possess an EPA 608 Certification
Abilities
  • The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.
  • Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
  • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  • Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
