The Design Engineer may perform within a small team of colleagues to deliver the required hardware and associated documentation and will interface with both the external suppliers and the internal engine program teams.

What You Will Be Doing

With this attractive opportunity you will get a chance to:

  • Responsible for the development of mechanical control units, including oversight of the mechanical design and analysis of components, taking the design through multiple gated design reviews, and oversight of the validation testing performed by contracted suppliers of the control units
  • Drive coordination of effort between the design, purchasing, manufacturing engineering teams with our suppliers to ensure that program needs are met through the execution of the work package to plan
  • Ensure project risks (technical, cost, supply chain and schedule) are identified and managed in accordance with the risk management plan
  • Engage in technical, manufacturing and supply chain issues and opportunities to enable quick decision making

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 1+ years of experience in mechanical design or control systems, OR
  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, OR
  • PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • In order to be eligible for consideration, you must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Requirements

  • Desire to successfully work in a team environment, establishing collaborative relationships with coworkers
  • Experience with control systems hardware design
  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI), change management, and risk management processes
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis and other problem-solving techniques
  • Knowledge of RTCA/DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 environmental testing standards
  • Current (or ability to obtain/maintain) US DOD Secret or Top-Secret security Clearance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
