Position Overview

We are seeking a driven and capable Mechanical Construction Manager to support multiple data center projects for a top technology client. This client-facing role requires strong interpersonal, communication, organizational skills, self-direction, and project management fundamentals. Experience managing multiple projects across regions and a background in data center development, design, engineering, controls, and operational requirements are highly desirable.

You will play an integral role in mentoring staff, building long-term client relationships, and pursuing new opportunities through strategy development, proposal, and contract negotiation.

Responsibilities

  1. Apply modern project management techniques within complex organizations; understand engineering, design, procurement, safety, construction, and commissioning.
  2. Establish and maintain strong client relationships, communicating effectively with technical and management personnel.
  3. Develop and implement cost-effective engineering solutions and best practices.
  4. Manage scope, schedule, and budget; oversee work from initiation to closeout.
  5. Prepare and present progress reports and recommendations to management.
  6. Conduct forensic analysis of building systems to enhance performance.
  7. Research and assess new technologies for integration into building systems.
  8. Serve as the single point of contact for mechanical and plumbing disciplines.
  9. Vendor management and contract compliance, including overseeing vendor performance, reviewing scope of work, and managing vendor selection and contracts.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 15+ years in construction and project management within mechanical/plumbing fields, with experience in mission-critical facilities, infrastructure, hospitals, or schools.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related technical field.
  • Strong understanding of construction and building systems.
  • Knowledge of pre-design, pre-construction, contract management, project delivery methods, and technology.
  • Experience preparing reports for diverse audiences and client-facing roles.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Preferred:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management.
  • Membership in PMI, CCMA, or similar organizations.
  • PMP or CCM certification.
  • Strong background in data center development and construction, including design, testing, and commissioning.
