Job summary

RigUp, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Commissioning Specialist to lead onsite mechanical commissioning for Data Center projects.

The role covers QA/QC, functional testing, and start-up of equipment and systems, ensuring compliance with design specs and stakeholder expectations. You will engage in owner L4-L5 Data Center commissioning while supporting L0-L3 activities and coordinating with clients, project stakeholders, and contractors to optimize operational performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years of progressive mechanical commissioning experience across utility infrastructure, life safety, mechanical systems, plumbing, building/facility systems/components, BMS/controls, and O&M.
• 2–3 years leading L4/L5 testing in Data Center environments.
• Working knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, and TAB standards and codes.
• Understanding of the construction process.
• Able to clear a comprehensive background check.
• Willingness to travel up to 95%.

Job description

We are seeking an accomplished Commissioning Specialist to participate in onsite activities supporting Data Center Commissioning projects. In this role, the selected candidate will lead and execute mechanical commissioning operations—including Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), Functional Performance testing, and equipment and systems start-up—ensuring a safe, operational environment that satisfies design specifications and stakeholder expectations. The specialist will engage directly in owner L4-L5 Data Center commissioning while overseeing and supporting L0-L3 activities, liaising with project stakeholders and contractors to optimize operational performance and efficiency.

• Lead and perform all mechanical commissioning-related activities, including QA/QC testing, Functional Performance testing, and equipment and systems start-up.
• Engage directly in owner L4-L5 Data Center commissioning processes.
• Oversee and support L0-L3 commissioning operations.
• Collaborate directly with client representatives, project stakeholders, and contractors to achieve optimal operational performance and efficiency.
• Verify that all mechanical equipment and systems align strictly with established design requirements and stakeholder expectations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years of progressive experience as a mechanical commissioning specialist spanning utility infrastructure, life safety, mechanical systems, plumbing systems, building/facility systems/components, building automation systems/controls, and facility operations and maintenance (O&M).
• 2-3 years of focused experience as a mechanical commissioning specialist documenting L2/L3 activities and leading L4/L5 testing within Data Center environments.
• Working knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, and TAB mechanical testing standards and code requirements.
• Comprehensive understanding of the construction process.
• Ability to successfully clear a comprehensive background check.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 95%.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS or equivalent L4 lead certification.
• Infrared (IR) Thermography Level 1 or Level 2 certification.
• Hands-on experience performing IR thermography.
• NFPA 70E certification.
• OSHA 10 certification (minimum) or OSHA 30 certification (preferred).
