Job summary

Draper in Cambridge, MA seeks a Mechanical CAD Designer to turn concepts into detailed, build-ready drawings for prototypes, production parts, fixtures and test equipment. You will create SolidWorks and Creo models, manage CAD files in 3DEXPERIENCE PLM, and revise drawings per engineering changes while aligning with shop floor needs.

The role emphasizes hands-on CAD work, attention to detail, and collaboration with engineers.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent; technical degree preferred or relevant experience.
• 3-5 years in technical drafting or CAD design.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.
• Experience with machine components and assemblies.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD and PLM systems.

Responsibilities

• Create SolidWorks and/or Creo models and drawings for machine components, cables & wire harnesses, and PCB assemblies.
• Manage designs and CAD files using 3D Experience PLM.
• Execute drawing revisions as engineering change requests.
• Draft to company and national standards.
• Identify design issues with minimal oversight and escalate as needed.
• Communicate project status and issues to management and project team.
