Job summary

GAS Energy Staffing LLC is seeking a Mechanical CAD Designer (SolidWorks) in Chanhassen, MN. The role focuses on creating mechanical designs and drawings for chemical dispense systems and blending equipment, supporting manufacturing and customer requirements.

The candidate should be proficient in SolidWorks, experienced with P&IDs, and able to collaborate with engineering teams to improve equipment designs. This is a contract position with temp-to-hire potential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in equipment design, industrial machinery, or related industries (semiconductor equipment experience is a plus).
• Experience with Agile/PLM systems is a plus.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks (CSWA/CSWP preferred).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D).
• Strong ability to read, create, and edit P&IDs, schematics, and related docs.
• Able to work cross-functionally with engineering and production teams.
• Hands-on designer skilled in SolidWorks and editing P&IDs.

Responsibilities

• Design & Modeling: Use SolidWorks to create/modify drawings from concepts and redlines.
• Create and maintain mechanical area layouts.
• P&ID & Documentation: Read, edit, and create P&IDs and schematics.
• Contribute to mechanical design best practices.
• BOM & Sourcing: Create/Review BOMs and source components per standards.
• Change Management: Initiate/update/approve ECOs and docs.
• Manufacturing Support: Interface with production to resolve design issues.
• Project Support: Work with engineering to meet customer specs and support reviews.

This role is responsible for creating mechanical designs and technical drawings for chemical dispense systems and blending equipment while supporting manufacturing operations and customer requirements. The ideal candidate is proficient in SolidWorks, experienced in creating and editing P&IDs, and works effectively with engineering teams to develop and improve equipment designs.

Job Description

• Design & Modeling:
  • Use SolidWorks to create and modify mechanical drawings from concepts and redlined documents
  • Create and maintain mechanical area layouts
• P&ID & Documentation:
  • Read, edit, and create Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and schematics
  • Follow and contribute to mechanical design best practices
• BOM & Sourcing:
  • Create and review mechanical Bills of Materials (BOMs) for accuracy and source mechanical components according to selection standards
• Change Management:
  • Initiate, update, and approve Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and process documentation
• Manufacturing Support:
  • Interface directly with production employees to resolve design issues as needed
• Project Support:
  • Work in conjunction with the engineering team to ensure implementation of customer specifications and support design reviews

Skills Required

• 3+ years of experience in equipment design, industrial machinery, or related industries (semiconductor equipment experience is a plus)
• Experience with Agile/PLM systems is a plus
• Proficiency in SolidWorks (CSWA/CSWP preferred)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D)
• Strong ability to read, create, and edit Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), schematics, and other product documentation
• Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and production teams
• The ideal candidate is a hands‑on designer who is proficient in SolidWorks and comfortable creating and editing P&IDs

Education/Training/Certifications

• Associate’s degree in a Mechanical Engineering-related field

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to pass a drug screening and criminal background check
• Work Schedule: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm CST

Pay Rate/Salary

• $35–$50/hour depending on experience. Compensation will be offered within the posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors
