Job summary

FieldCore is looking for a Mechanical Assistant to join our craft field team and assist with maintenance, installations and inspections on client sites.

This role follows a seasonal outage cadence with 12-hour day or night shifts and 100% travel, offering hands-on training, strict safety practices, and the opportunity to work with large industrial equipment.

A high school diploma and mechanical aptitude are preferred; experience with hand tools and reading blueprints is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with mechanical maintenance activities on client sites.
  • Support installations, upgrades, inspections and operations.

  • Move, align and install machinery and equipment.
  • Work on equipment with or without supervision.

Let’s Talk about the Role

As the Mechanical Assistant you will assist with all Mechanical Maintenance activities as directed by Senior Mechanical or Maintenance/Supervisor staff to support clients’ installations, maintenance, upgrades, inspections, and ongoing operations.

This role follows a seasonal cadence aligned with our major outage schedule. Our peak demand periods occur during the Spring (March–May) and Fall (September–November). During the Summer and Winter months, the workload transitions to a slower pace, which is ideal for those who prefer a better work-life balance or extended time off during the off-season.

How You Will Make a Difference
  • Work with a Mentor as a Mentee. Learn On the Job Training OJT.
  • Ability to follow direction.
  • Proactive in Safety and use all proper PPE.
  • Quality work. Consistently demonstrate a high level of workmanship.
  • Have basic hand/power tool knowledge.
  • Possess knowledge about specific activity tools and be able to use them safely.
  • Ability to work unsupervised on any part of an equipment maintenance project.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Ability to align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, lasers, and plumb bobs
  • Experience dismantling machinery or equipment
  • Should have experience with repair and or rebuild of large industrial equipment.
  • Ability to move machinery and equipment
  • Assembly and installation of equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Special Role Requirements:
  • High School Diploma preferred
  • Preferred mechanical experience or completion a technical program
  • Experience in industrial outage maintenance desired
  • Willing to work 12 hours on Day or Night Shift.
  • 100% travel is required

The hourly wage range for this position is $23.00. Employees may be eligible for overtime.
