Job summary

Northern Manufacturing is a custom metal fabrication company located in Oak Harbor, Ohio. We are seeking a Mechanical Assembly Lead to guide the Assembly team on customer projects and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

This working lead role coordinates daily work, develops team members, troubleshoots issues, and ensures access to prints, routes, CADs, parts, tools, and information. Competitive pay and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • Prior mechanical assembly or related manufacturing experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience using hand and power tools
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, prints, and other production documentation
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and assembly problems
  • Basic math, measurement, and dimensional comprehension
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to prioritize work, provide clear direction, and coach others
  • Previous experience leading, training, or mentoring employees preferred
  • Basic computer skills; prior forklift experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical assembly work on customer projects while balancing day-to-day lead responsibilities.
  • Assign daily work based on production priorities, job requirements, and employee skill level, and provide day-to-day direction as work progresses.
  • Work with team members to interpret prints, understand assembly requirements, and ensure components are installed correctly.
  • Make sure the team has the prints, routes, CADs, parts, tools, equipment, and information needed to complete assigned work.
  • Identify and help resolve missing parts, information, or other issues that could prevent work from being completed as planned, involving the appropriate departments as needed.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and assembly issues and coordinate with the supervisor, Engineering, Quality, or other departments when additional support is needed.
  • Train new employees and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and development to existing team members.
  • Reinforce quality expectations, proper assembly practices, safety procedures, and a clean and organized work area.
  • Prepare work for third shift by providing the jobs, prints, routes, and instructions needed to continue work.
  • Approve employee timecards and time-off requests in coordination with the supervisor and participate in employee evaluations.

Mechanical Assembly Lead

Northern Manufacturing is a custom metal fabrication company located in Oak Harbor, Ohio. We manufacture complex, custom-fabricated products for customers across a variety of industries. We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Assembly Lead to provide day-to-day leadership to our Mechanical Assembly team while working alongside the team on customer projects.


This is a working lead position responsible for coordinating daily work, supporting and developing team members, troubleshooting problems, and making sure the team has what it needs to keep work moving.


What You'll Do

Compensation & Benefits


  • Pay: $28.00 - $33.00 per hour
