Job summary

ABEC Inc. seeks a Mechanical Assembler to assemble and fabricate precision stainless-steel systems for pharmaceutical applications in Bethlehem, PA. You will start in our climate-controlled facility, then travel to customer sites for installation and commissioning, contributing to life-saving medicines.

Candidate should read blueprints, perform basic math, and have prior mechanical assembly experience; MIG/TIG welding is a plus. Expect U.S.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of assembler/fabrication experience.
  • MIG/TIG stainless welding experience is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to read tape measure and perform simple mathematical equations.
  • Aptitude with blue print reading.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and fabricate equipment accurately and with proper procedures in a timely manner.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in fabrication process.
  • Knowledge of all types of hand tools, fabricating equipment, measuring devices.
  • Work on stainless steel fabrication, including cutting tubes, grinding, polishing, bending, assembly.
  • Operate overhead crane and/or forklift.
  • Travel to customer sites domestically or internationally, and to other ABEC locations when required.
  • Identify and drive Continuous Improvement opportunities.

1st Shift: 6:00am - 2:30pm M-F

OR 2nd Shift: 2:00pm - 10:30pm M-F (that includes 10% shift differential)

As a Mechanical Assembler at ABEC, your work doesn't stay in one place—and neither do you. This is project-based manufacturing at its best.

You'll spend weeks or months in our clean, climate-controlled Bethlehem facility, carefully building precision stainless-steel systems and vessels. Once complete, you and your teammates travel to customer sites to install and commission the same equipment you helped create.

This isn't travel for travel's sake—it’s travel with purpose. Your work directly supports the production of life-saving medicines, and you'll see the real-world impact of what you build.

What You’ll Do
  • Fabricate and assemble mechanical components using schematics from our in-house design team
  • Build precision equipment for advanced liquid pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Test, troubleshoot, and verify system performance
  • Travel within the U.S. or internationally to support equipment installation and final commissioning

Position Summary:

As an ABEC Mechanical Assembler you will assemble and / or fabricate mechanical parts, pieces or products using a variety or tools and equipment according to required specifications.

Responsibilities:
  • Assemble and fabricate equipment accurately and with proper procedures in a timely manner.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in fabrication process.
  • Knowledge of all types of hand tools, fabricating equipment, measuring devices.
  • Work on stainless steel fabrication, including to but not limited to:
  • Cutting tube
  • Operate hand grinders
  • Polishing
  • Bending
  • Assembly
  • NDT/Liquid Penetrate all inside welds on an electro polished vessels.
  • Install and maintain utility/service lines.
  • Operate overhead crane and/or forklift.
  • Physically capable of wearing protective eye, ear, and head gear.
  • Must be able to stand 8+ hours per day.
  • Inspect and maintain proper and safe operation of all shop equipment.
  • Conduct operations in a safe manner.
  • Execute other tasks as assigned.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites domestically or internationally, and ability to travel to other ABEC locations when required.
  • Will play an active role in identifying and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunity.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • One (1) year previous Assembler/Fabrication experience.
  • Experience with MIG & TIG stainless steel welding methods & techniques a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to read tape measure and perform simple mathematical equations.
  • Aptitude with blue print reading.
  • Proficient with the use of hand tools and basic fabrication tools.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. / 23 kilograms.
  • Typical work is in a manufacturing environment or customer’s site.
  • Required to stand for long periods of time and may involve heavy manual labor.
  • You will need to be able to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, reach, lift, push, pull and carry items.
  • Exposure to loud noises.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment.
  • Awareness of and prior experience with implementing Continuous Improvement (CI) a plus.
  • Prior Lean/Six Sigma experience a plus.
